This summer I learnt how to spearfish, the art of snorkelling while holding a loaded gun, holding your breath as you dive into the depths, and patiently wait your prey. not to mention the art of aiming and shoot fish underwater.
anyway, one day as we dived a spot called the Checkerboard, I shot a fish, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a big black blob moving closer. An Octopus. this Octopus swam up to the fish I had just shot and covered it entirely, with one tentacle twisted around my spear. What to do? my breath was running out!! and I wanted the fish… so I dived down and prepared to stab the Octopus with my knife, but as I got closer the Octopus was bigger than my diving knife and … well I wasn’t that game. I pulled the spear to the surface and there the octopus let go and swam away. The fish did not survive and tasted wonderful that evening.
